~ Home Show

Today we walked around from 10am to 6pm at the home and garden show with my parents and then my mom and I went to the gem and mineral show, which was fun, but walking on concrete all day is tiring on the feet. Gary and I were planning on going to the Zoo tomorrow to see the new elephants, but that might have to wait until another weekend

~ AATS Fashion Show

I’m in the middle of fashion show season 2008, and there are so many talented designers in North Carolina. the AATS had their show in Raleigh with Scholarship money for the winners and here are some of the pieces from different collections from the show:

~ Don’t Always Delete!

I think this is a lovely example of how all photography does not have to be centered, posed, or symmetrical. This was taken at the last fashion show I was shooting (which I know I haven’t blogged yet), and is the result of a slower shutter speed and a skip in the flash sync. While the girl is stepping out of frame, combined with the motion conveyed, and what she is wearing, I think this is a unique and artistic photo that I did not see on camera, but afterwards when the photos were uploaded to the computer. One of many reasons why Not to delete your images on the spot (another one being, some cameras delete All can be easily mistaken or pressed in haste). So I thought I would share my find with you, since this photo may even go in my top 10 photos of the year . . . we’ll see when December comes along!

~ Couture for the Cure

Couture for the Cure, an evening of apparel and art to fund diabetes research. There were a lot of talented designers showing their collections that night, and I’m sure we will be seeing more from them.

It takes a lot of time for make-up and hair to get ready for a fashion show . . .

one of the designers, Nina adding finishing touches . . .

Hair was done by amazing hair stylist Brandon of Atomic Salon

there were a lot of talented designers, and I look forward to seeing Raleigh become more fashion oriented.

~ Baby Black Australian Swans

Gary and I went to a friends’ house tonight and I got some photos of their baby black Australian swans which are so adorable. The daddy (also known as prince albert) was staring me down behind the fence and tried biting me through the fence slats (though I would too if I were a swan and someone was near my babies).

Afterwards, we went to Wildflower Pizza, and had an OMG yummy pizza with 14 toppings!! I had the half with 12 toppings, but Still! That is the most toppings I have had on a pizza ever! It was so good though!

~ My New Recipes Blog!

I love cooking, baking, and food in general! I’ve created a new blog, just for the recipes I try and for other info and related news.

If you ever come to dinner at our house, or we bring over a dish and I like the recipe, you should be able to find it on my other site! I don’t have a lot up there yet, but I will soon and with pictures most likely if I have time between chopping, mincing, and browning 🙂

I have a link to it under Sue-Leigh’s Links if you forget the link –>

Check it Out!

Forgot to mention, we had friends over for dinner this past weekend. Here are some recipes to be on the look out for that I made!

  • Chili-Avocado Dip (Appetizer)
  • Ultimate Shepherd’s Pie
  • Tuscan Style Pasta with Chick Peas, Zucchini, and Rosemary
  • Hot and Spicy Stuffed Mushrooms
  • Mango Coconut Bread Pudding (dessert)

Laku Japanese Restaurant

laku.jpgGary and I went with our friends Amanda and Sean and their friend Katherine to Laku Japanese Restaurant [http://lakurestaurant.com/].

The service was great, and we ended up ordering enough food to feed 2x or 3x more people -haha, they still talk about us.

They are a new place, only been open for about a month now but try them out for sushi or a meal, their menu is on their website.
We’re definitely going back!
