first friday – may

Downtown Raleigh has a great opportunity to see artwork, art studios, and go to nice restaurants with friends. It’s the first Friday of each month, and aptly named ‘First Friday’. I just happened to go last minute, and hung out at the Fish Market for a bit, where some people I knew were showcasing their work. You can read more about it here: http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/FirstFriday/index.htm

The material was created by Jessica Monique George. You can read more about the process on her website: http://melodicmovement.mosaicglobe.com/

This artwork on this wall done by Iris Chen. Even her fashion design sketches are very artistic . . . her website is www.deathful.net

This was very cool, the artwork seemed to be made of newspaper, or pages from a book when you look up close. Artwork by Liz Bradford:

I Love this! I actually took the photo for my friend Adrienne who loves Polaroids:

~ (SparkLy) things

I usually don’t buy myself (SparkLy) little things, but It’s good to treat yourself to something every once in a while – which is what I did! Meet blue topaz. If you look closely you can see hints of purples and shades of blues – and it sparkles in all kinds of light!

~ travel with (StyLe) Greece video

Well it has been almost 2 years since Gary and I went on our honeymoon to Greece! We Loved it so much and can’t wait to go back. This video was taken by Gary on the trip, and I have more footage somewhere . . . I’m in the process of finding and getting that video backed up, but for now here’s a little something I put together tonight. You may need to turn up the sound a little, since the Greek music is a little quiet at first 🙂

And here are some of the photos I took during the time the footage was being shot 🙂

~ photoshop disasters

Sites like these are fun! I found this site earlier today, and went through every single page. One of my favourites was in a Victoria’s Secret catalogue of a hand left on the shoulder of the model but no one was standing next to her. Check out the Photoshop Disasters Blog, not everyone is perfect or as skinny as they look in the magazines 🙂

~ art to wear fashion show

The fashion show had a lot of very talented designers. Here are a few of the designs, but there were so many more:

The designers had short mini-shoots of their collection before the fashion show. Here are some of the designs from the designers I photographed.

** click on the thumbnails below to see a larger view:

Jenna Bost’s Collection (Elemental), such as earth, wind, water . . .

Shelly Smith’s Collection (Recycled Couture), I especially liked the make-up and bits of glitter and the hair pieces of these two models:

This was from Iris Chen and Maria Juri’s Collection (le cafe’ delicieux), inspired by coffee and teas:

Brandon Alley and Krisitin Grieneisen’s Collection (Re-purposing Glamour), the designs below were made from gloves and ties:

Vansana Nolintha’s Colleciton (Prayers and Meditation), who also had the tallest and longest of all the designs:

The Art to Wear Fashion show was very professionally done, and there were a lot of people that helped to make it a successful evening for a lot of amazing designers. Thanks to Amy who organized the photography and videography.

~ I’m All a Twitter

I’ve had this thing called Twitter for a while now, but just recently added it to my blog since I have been using it more. So if you have a twitter account, you can ‘follow’ me, or if you don’t – you can stay up to date with what I am doing on the right hand side, a the top of the sidebar of my blog under ‘Sue-Leigh News:’ and since I can update it from my mobile, I update it often!

I’ll have updates on what I am doing, news, new things to check out on my blog, etc. So happy twittering 🙂
