~ art to wear fashion show

The fashion show had a lot of very talented designers. Here are a few of the designs, but there were so many more:

The designers had short mini-shoots of their collection before the fashion show. Here are some of the designs from the designers I photographed.

Jenna Bost’s Collection (Elemental), such as earth, wind, water . . .

Shelly Smith’s Collection (Recycled Couture), I especially liked the make-up and bits of glitter and the hair pieces of these two models:

This was from Iris Chen and Maria Juri’s Collection (le cafe’ delicieux), inspired by coffee and teas:

Brandon Alley and Krisitin Grieneisen’s Collection (Re-purposing Glamour), the designs below were made from gloves and ties:

Vansana Nolintha’s Colleciton (Prayers and Meditation), who also had the tallest and longest of all the designs:

The Art to Wear Fashion show was very professionally done, and there were a lot of people that helped to make it a successful evening for a lot of amazing designers. Thanks to Amy who organized the photography and videography.

~ Michelle Obama in North Carolina

There were a Lot of people that showed up to see Barack Obama’s wife speak last night:

Michelle is a very good speaker, and the campaign was able to keep the crowd pumped up. She was able to relate to the ‘every day people’.

Afterwards she spent time greeting supporters, shaking hands, signing autographs, and one guy had her sign the back of his cell phone.

~ I’m All a Twitter

I’ve had this thing called Twitter for a while now, but just recently added it to my blog since I have been using it more. So if you have a twitter account, you can ‘follow’ me, or if you don’t – you can stay up to date with what I am doing on the right hand side, a the top of the sidebar of my blog under ‘Sue-Leigh News:’ and since I can update it from my mobile, I update it often!

I’ll have updates on what I am doing, news, new things to check out on my blog, etc. So happy twittering 🙂

~ Home Show

Today we walked around from 10am to 6pm at the home and garden show with my parents and then my mom and I went to the gem and mineral show, which was fun, but walking on concrete all day is tiring on the feet. Gary and I were planning on going to the Zoo tomorrow to see the new elephants, but that might have to wait until another weekend

~ Don’t Always Delete!

I think this is a lovely example of how all photography does not have to be centered, posed, or symmetrical. This was taken at the last fashion show I was shooting (which I know I haven’t blogged yet), and is the result of a slower shutter speed and a skip in the flash sync. While the girl is stepping out of frame, combined with the motion conveyed, and what she is wearing, I think this is a unique and artistic photo that I did not see on camera, but afterwards when the photos were uploaded to the computer. One of many reasons why Not to delete your images on the spot (another one being, some cameras delete All can be easily mistaken or pressed in haste). So I thought I would share my find with you, since this photo may even go in my top 10 photos of the year . . . we’ll see when December comes along!

~ Chelsea Clinton

Very sweet, soft spoken Chelsea Clinton was in Raleigh and Durham North Carolina campaigning for her mom, Senator Hillary Clinton answering questions and re-emphasizing what her moms visions for the future are.

I love the simplicity of this photo . . .

~ Couture for the Cure

Couture for the Cure, an evening of apparel and art to fund diabetes research. There were a lot of talented designers showing their collections that night, and I’m sure we will be seeing more from them.

It takes a lot of time for make-up and hair to get ready for a fashion show . . .

one of the designers, Nina adding finishing touches . . .

Hair was done by amazing hair stylist Brandon of Atomic Salon

there were a lot of talented designers, and I look forward to seeing Raleigh become more fashion oriented.
