New Page, Lifetime Goals
I saw a long time ago in an article in the N&O? About a guy who started writing down things he wanted to accomplish or do in his lifetime (I think it was about someone that went to space and that was one of the things on his list).
I’ts amazing how much you forget you have done if you don’t write it down. I had started one way back when I had read the article but lost it I assume since I don’t know where it is right now.
So I am starting this one online so I can keep track of it, read it, and find it easily. If I find the old one, I’ll add it.
While some of the things on my list might sound crazy now or not fesable (like go to/visit space) it might not be by the time I/We are older (gotta “reach for the stars”). I’m going to continue adding to my list, and put links to the matching blog post so you can see pictures π
Let me know if you have/start a lifetime goals list or if you have suggestions for mine π
or if you want to do something on my list with us! I can totally do a few cruises with family and friends! π
Check it out now!

First Valentine’s Day Away
This past Valentine’s day was the first Gary and I have been apart (since he is in Denver on business) but I had dinner at my parents house and Gary sent be a beautiful mini rose bush for my office.
the cute pot that came with it
and my fave: chocolate truffles from my parents (with a few other things)
Why my fish is better than your fish
I just recently found out that if I get my pointer finger wet and get a food pellet to stick to that finger, hold it half an inch above the water, my betta fish Maximus will JUMP out of the water and get the food off my finger.
He is sooo cool π
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Juror #12
Summoned for Jury Duty.
Monday morning, 9:00am I was at the courthouse, checked in, watched a short video on jury duty, sat around in the jury lounge for 5.5 hours doing nothing. Last time I was called for jury duty, I wasn’t needed and I went home, so I wasn’t expecting to hang around for so long. So I skimmed through the few magazines available, had breakfast and lunch, text messaged a few people, made notes and drawings in a notebook.
2:37pm: My name was called with 29 other potential jurors and we went downstairs to courtroom B. 12 people were called and asked to sit in the jury box.
Everyone was aked a series of questions, the first being your name, your occupation, your spouses occupation. Then questions such as have you served on a jury before, do you know the district attorney, the defendant, the defendantβs lawyer.
This particular case was driving while under the influence (of marijuana) and possession of less than half an oz. of marijuana. So a series of questions as to why you thought you were unable to give a fair trial were asked, such as do you know anyone that has been a victim of reckless driving, marijuana, bad experiences with cops/state troopers, etc.
After the DA had asked a few people to leave, and after a few replacements, and was finally happy with the 12, the defendant’s lawyer got to whittle down who he did not think would give a fair trial, which was the 12th spot. I was the 12th juror selected after the 12th spot has been replaced quickly about three times. I did not get intensive questioning, everyone was pleased with the last juror, as well they should be π
An alternate was picked, and an hour and a half later, a jury has been finally selected.
The trial started around 4:00pm and we heard from one side. at ten til 5:00 we would continue the next day at 9:30am.
Tuesday morning at 9:30am, we continued where we had left of. Questions from both sides, etc. etc. We then had to deliberate and decide from memory and based on what the law is, not what we think it should be or what we would like it to be, and based soley on the evidence presented.Β We finished uparound mid afternoon.
Fun experience, and I get $12 for the first day and $20 for the second. Hurray -haha
New Cat Play Cube
A few days ago I got a Cat Play Cube for the girls, and they loved it so much that I got them two more last night and attached them together. It’s a neat little design that folds flat for storage. Made of red nylon and tassels hang from the top. You can see what it looks like here, but I got mine from walmart for $3.88
this was just cute because she didn’t really want to stay in there when I was getting a few shots
Just Busy
Update:
I normally don’t blog about general things we do, but really that’s what has been keeping us busy lately. We had some friends over for dinner the other night, I had an awesome review at work the other day, Gary has been really busy with his work (working late and on the weekends), and I just found out he will be going to Denver on business, and over Valentine’s day too π₯ I’m scheduled to go in for jury duty on monday, but that might fall through like the last time, but we’ll see.
Well, that’s it for now.
Superbowl XLI Commercials
What did you do for the Superbowl?
Gary and his dad, every year watch it together at a movie theater. I had it on in the background and saw parts of it, and during the 3rd quarter I went out to Walmart to get a few things.
If you missed some of the commercials (as I did), check them out or Vote for your favourite here: http://www.youtube.com/superbowl
I have to say that I am a big fan of a lot of the Budweiser Commercials, mostly the one with the Budweiser clydesdales (you can find them on youtube). I also liked the one this year with the boxer turned dalmation. Very moving π
This one is my fave from last year:
and this one is just cute π
Stride Gum, Rediculously long lasting?
So have any of you seen those commercials for Stride Gum? It’s supposed to be so rediculously long lasting that the company should be going out of business. Check out the funny notice they have on their website: http://www.stridegum.com/
Take the Challenge!
My theory before we even started was that there was something in the gum that numbs your tongue so you think you are tasting flavour, and my friend asked ” i wonder what kind of chemicals we are ingesting to make the taste last that long . . . maybe they put formaldyhide”
-haha
So I got the Spearmint flave and we timed it. It has a strong smell (since I could smell it through the plastic packaging) and the flave isn’t bad. I started at 12:53 and about 28 minutes later the flavour was pretty much gone.
So with (on the back of the package) 30% less fewer calories @ <5 calories, and I needed gum anyway . . . it might last a bit longer than some gums, but it’s not at all Rediculously long lasting.
I like the advertizing though, interesting concept . . .
(Plus it has the very cool ‘S’ logo on its packaging π and makes good bubbles)
