Dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe

I haven’t been to a hard rock cafe that I can recall, so in Phili, we went to one that wasn’t far from our hotel.

The food was pretty good, but I think my faves were the sides.  The twisted mac and cheese that had a bit of a bite to make it a little spicy, the white cheddar smashed potatoes, and the hot brownie ice-cream dessert that we shared ^^

At the Penitentiary

Today we went to the Eastern State Penitentiary and listened to stories of the inmates and the guards and about the building.  We saw the cells, including Al Capone’s  . . . it was interesting and the audio tour was pretty well done.

It was definitely worth $11 ($1 off coupon on their website) and the weather was perfect – it wouldn’t have been as much fun if it was hot and humid.

Happy Birthday Gary!

Today was Gary’s Birthday, but we celebrated last night with a couple friends.  We had dinner (저녁) at an Ethiopian restaurant and then dessert (후식) at Freshberry.  Unfortunately he’s working late tonight for his birthday, but he already got his birthday gifts from me last Friday (in time for theweekend) 🙂 Assassins Creed Brotherhood and Dragon Age 2 (피디오 게임) and maybe he will have time to play this weekend – I will be on my way to a friends wedding!

Korean Beauty Masks at Forever 21

I don’t usually shop at Forever 21 since I’m really not in the target market for that store, but I was there the other day with a friend shopping for jewelry for a wedding we are going to.

Standing in the checkout line, they have boxes of stuff that doesn’t cost a lot for you to peruse for last minute impulse purchase, and I was looking at the beauty masks when I realized that they are Korean. Who woulda thought?

I got a few, such as the Deep Moisture Hand Mask, Ultra Repairing Foot Mask, and two Skin Recover Facial Masks (one green tea, and one pearl).  The foot masks are neat, they look like little sock slippers with product on the inside, so you cut the top open and slide your foot in.  The hand masks were a little harder, since they were wet glove like things and then you slip on a plastic glove over it and tape them shut.  I needed help with those.  The facial masks have eye, nose, and mouth pieces cut out and you wear them on your face.  Simon and Martina on YouTube did a video blog on the ones they found in Korea Here

They were between $1.80 and $2.80 depending on the treatment and the Instructions on the back of these are in Korean and English 🙂

Chilaxin’

Today my Great Aunt and Great Uncle made strawberry pancakes for breakfast and we had broccoli soup for lunch.

We spent the day chatting and then took a few pictures before leaving for home in the afternoon.

When I got home, I realized it had been over 5 years since I had seen them . . .

it was nice seeing them and catching up!

Shilla Bakery D.C.

6월 24일

I went to DC for the day last week (6월 18일), and as I was waiting to meet some people, I stopped in at Shilla Bakery (제과점) in Koreatown (7039 Little River Tpke, Annandale, VA 22003-5908)

It was cute, and had a nice variety of breads and sweets, including patbingsu, but I had this truffely cake yummy.
