Pottery Painting

20120612-230621.jpgI’ve been wanting to do this for a while now, where you go to one of those places, pick out a piece of white pottery and paint it with whatever.

I had a coupon for a free studio session (cost of paints and such), so we went with my parents to a place not far from them.

Gary picked out a mug and painted it blue. All blue. My mom painted a tile with a pink seashell on it, and my dad painted a seashell votive with shades of blues, pinks, and greens.

This was my piece, a vase that I painted all light pink, thought it is hard to see it in the picture. I started painting green vines, and decided I wanted to go with brown, so I started painting over the green and found out I liked the layering, so I did that technique with all the vines.

I picked what I thought were a shade of maroon for the flowers, but they look more pink right now. When they glaze and fire the pieces, the colours should be a bit darker.

Everything should be ready by Thursday, so I’ll post a photo of the finished pieces ^^
