~ Evening at the Castle

If any of you are magicians, magic fans, or know about some of the LA sites, you might know about the Famous Hollywood Magic Castle.  A private club for members, and friends of members, and my friend Adrienne and I went last night.

We saw some great magic and magicians. Dimmare performed a great stage show, Chipper Lowell did a great comedy act (that I was selected from the audience to be a part of), and R. Paul Wilson who did some really great, and really smooth close up magic.

My friend Micah also performed for us, which was really great to see, since I haven’t seen him perform in a several, several years.

The castle had a secret bookcase entrance way (that I so want) and various paintings and of course we saw all the most known parts of the castle, including Invisible Irma’s piano.

And apparently, (from Chipper’s facebook status) “Stephen Merchant (Ricky Gervais’ writing & producing partner), John Krasinski (The Office, Away We Go), Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada, The Young Victoria), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), & Tim Heidecker (Tim & Eric Awesome Show)” were there.  We saw Neil, but didn’t know or see the others.  Fun 🙂

If you ever have the opportunity to go, you should.

* Swung by the Tatoo Shop

We swung by the tatoo shop, but no we did not go in and get matching ink . . . It was midnight-ish, and I snapped this photo right before the signs lights went off.

My camera phone wasn’t wide enough, across the street was too far and I didn’t feel like getting run over in the middle, but we peeked in and saw a little of the inside of Kat Von D’s shop.

* I’m Here

I made it safely to Los Angeles, nothing exciting happened on my flights.

There was one young man that had 20 minutes to make an international flight . . . I hope he made it.

I was on an S80 (photo found http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/planephotoman/129024650/) and I was on the same plane and in the same seat from raleigh to denver and denver to los angeles, which was great since I boarded at the same gate I got off. Lol, I should have left my luggage on the plane 🙂

I slept a lot so I’m pretty adjusted to the time difference . . . I’m hungry now.

* My New Favourite Lip Gloss

Bear with me here. Blogging from a mobile device is slow, and prone to type-o’s so I’ve marked mobile posts with a * in the front of the title.

I just “re-found” the ability to blog from my phone, which I might re-forget depending on how annoying and/or time consuming it becomes.

Anyway, a quick note on my new fave lipgloss for those interested in lip gloss 🙂

I love Bare Escentuals ‘Buxom Lips’.
Its supposed to plump and all that, which I suppose it does a little, but don’t expect Angelina Jolie lips (with any lip plumping gloss for that matter).

Mostly I love that it doesn’t take much application, it gives a great shine, and while some of the lip plumping products tend to dry out the lips, this one does not for me. ooh, and it has a minty sensation 🙂

Taking the wand out of the tube once and applying is enough for application and it’s not that annoying sticky feeling.

I purchased mine at a local Sephora, so I sampled some colours and purchased ‘April’ one that is a lovely pink with a bit of shimmer. I believe there were 4 or 5 with shimmer and maybe 15 or 20 more to choose from.

You can read about it here http://store.bareescentuals.com/Buxom%20Big%20+%20Healthy%20Lip%20Polish/38776,default,pd.html

Okie dokie, I’m out for now.

~ Are You Square?

I’m now a part of the Foursquare trend. An app for your GPS mobile phone that lets you easily “check in” to places you go to.

“Why would one do this?” you ask. Honestly, I don’t entirely know, aside from telling your friends and family where you are.

“Why do they care?” you might ask yourself. Well, people by nature are usually naturally nosey curious purple or want to be kept ‘in the loop’.

Or your “going out friends” can meet up with you and you don’t have to tell them where you are.  It’s also a great converstaion starter.  “So I saw you went to the new diner down the road, how was it?”  Thank you social networking.

So the cool thing about foursquare is that it’s more of a game. You get points based on first visits, consecutive visits, adding a place no one else has yet, and if you visit a place more than anyone one else it means you spend entirely too much time there become the mayor.

Woo!  All that time spent in poli-sci . . . and all you need to do is visit a place often enough and you become a political figure. Please continue four spaces and collect $200 as you pass Go 😛

Moving on . . . another fun thing is adding a ‘tip’.  Not really a review but more of a ‘if you go here,’ check this out’ or ‘try this out’  which I might use mostly for restaurants ‘”hmmm, what should I try on the menu?  How about something someone I don’t know likes?” -hehe

I think it would be useful for parking tips in some areas as well.

You can opt to have your check ins posted to your twitter, facebook etc. or to only share posts with fellow friends on foursquare.  It’s a fun app for the Droid, Iphone, etc.  and it’s Free.

Free is good.

Have fun, Life is short and full of places to visit 🙂

~ Snow without the Snow

So around here, its still cold, but not cold enough to get snow.

I do NOT like scraping the windows of the car in the mornings.  Luckily, I haven’t had to worry about that.

I like snow for a day, but then I need to be able to get places after that.

I do like seeing the little frozen patches that look like snowflakes on my car in the morning.  Enough to be pretty, not enough to need a scraping in the morning.  I took this with my camera phone in the morning . . . so pretty 🙂

~ Christmas Lights

When Gary and I went to RI, we visited the La Salette Shrine for their lighting ceremony (his grandparents saw an article in the paper).  Evidently people come out from all around to view the lights, and they even had a donkey near the manger.  It was a nice thing to do in the evening, though it was pretty cold that night 🙂

So for Christmas Eve’s Eve . . .
here are a few lights to set the mood 🙂

~ Great Commercial

Gary and I saw this last night for the first time . . . you just see santa running, and we think “why is santa running in slow motion?”

We continue to watch to see why, instead of flipping the channel over for Gary to play his game.  Check it out, it’s great advertising:

~ Christmas Dree Decorated

I think it was Tuesday that I helped my parents decorate the Christmas Tree.  I love ornaments . . . they remind me of decorating the tree when I was little, and getting to see the ornaments I don’t see for a whole year is comforting in a way.

My mom made some of the ornaments, like the little carousel horse you see, and some of the ornaments are replica old fasioned ornaments that I love too.

5 days left!
